Overview
Galena Lodge, built in the 1920s, was once a mining camp originally serving as the last Wood River Valley outpost in the early 1900s for the hunter and fisherman. Now Galena is popular as a winter Nordic ski lodge surrounded by trails. For mountain bikers, it is a perfect place to begin the sport. Three backcountry yurts are available for a remote camping experience. Special events, lessons and clinics are offered.

The historic Galena Lodge is located just twenty-two miles north of world renowned Sun Valley, Idaho on Highway 75.

In the winter, there are over 50 kilometers of ski trails in the immediate area of Galena and over 20 miles of packed snowshoe trails. The lodge also has a deck exclusively for dogs to eat, drink and lounge in the sun. You don't even have to drive yourself as the local businesses and the Blaine County Recreation District have organized a free bus that runs Wednesday through Saturday from the Sun Valley area to Galena Lodge.
For summer fun, take to the many trails in the vicinity of the Lodge. Since mountain biking and other outdoor recreation pursuits have increased in popularity over the years, the Lodge has taken an aggressive move in creating a great trail network. There are a number of old mines and pioneer cabins throughout the area. Maps are available at the Lodge for all trails, and the trails are well-marked.

Galena Lodge is a historic day lodge, which is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
The Lodge offers ski rentals and lessons, snowshoe rentals and packed snowshoe trials, hot and hearty lunches, moonlight diners and even overnight yurt accommodations.
Open daily for lunch, the lodge is also open on selected evenings for a full four course family style dinner. On those select nights, you can also skiing by the light of a full moon or participate in star gazing with a local astronomer.
